Delgado Community College is seeking a motivated and detail oriented individual to fill one or more Maintenance Repairer 2 positions to perform maintenance on all infrastructure, lights, and ballasts, and ensure all aspects of HVAC equipment is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

  • Removes, cleans and installs motors, generators and transformers. Performs electrical troubleshooting, and replaces parts and cleaning as necessary. Installs light fixtures and connections. Checks control panel and replaces relays, switches and other parts. Assists superintendent with HVAC equipment.

  • Perform carpentry repairs to building interior and exterior. Repairs and constructs miscellaneous items of wooden structures such as work benches tables, bookcases, cabinets and handles.

  • Removes paint and primes walls for painting for interior and exterior structures. Repairs plaster, sheetrock and cement walls. Repairs and replaces roofs, flooring, walls, siding, doors and windows. Erects scaffolding and builds forms such as those used in pouring concrete.

  • Performs plumbing troubleshooting and repairs to building interior, exterior, and grounds. Opens clogged drains, repairs, leaking faucets, and adjusts steam pumps, water pumps, heaters and air compressors.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational - This position may be filled as a Probationary Appointment requiring 12-24 months on probation.
