About this Job

LSU Shreveport is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Repairer 2 in the Facility Services department. This role is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work on campus buildings, equipment, and systems to support safe and efficient operations. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a commitment to maintaining a well-functioning campus environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Perform plumbing troubleshooting and repairs to building interior, exterior, and grounds. Example: Repair toilets, urinals, sinks, drain lines, spigots, water fountains and irrigation systems.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs to building interior, exterior and grounds. Example: Replace light bulbs, light ballasts, outlets and switches. Use necessary electrical test equipment. Repair contactors and disconnects. Service exterior and street lights.
  • Perform light carpentry repairs to building interior and exterior. Example: Repair manual and electric door hardware, windows, Flooring, building façade, walls, transitions, gates and signs. Neatly paint walls, fences, gates, and other equipment.
  • Maintains and makes general repairs to mowing machines, including replacement and adjustment of worn and damaged parts (belts, pulleys, bearings, starters, brakes, batteries) and analyze major components to determine the extent of necessary repairs. Bleeds and maintains hydraulic systems of lawn equipment.

Appointment Type: Probational/Promotional

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Pre-employment drug testing and criminal background check are required.
