Minimum Qualifications
Eighth grade. One year of experience assisting in automotive maintenance and repair work is required. Must possess a Driver license. Must have own hand tools. Must obtain a CDL/Class A prior to completion of the twelve-month probationary period. Must possess a Refrigerant Certification from an EPA-approved technician program in accordance with EPA, Section 609 of the Clean Air Act OR obtain the certification within 6 months of employment.

The Maintenance Repairer-Automotive (Heavy Operations) is technical work that approaches the journeyman level in the diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of a wide variety of fixed and mobile mechanical equipment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing repairs and maintenance on Heavy and Trash equipment, which includes performing preventive maintenance, such as oil changes, assisting mechanics on repairs, and test-driving vehicles to verify the adequacy of repair.
