West - Unit 1 \n \nArea:District Wide \n \nContract Months:12 \n \nSalary Range: $16.45 \u2013 $25.72 \n \nAcademic Year: 25-26 \n \nJOB SUMMARY\n \nResponsible for performing general repairs and maintenance services throughout the district.\n \nMAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\n \nList most important duties first\n \n1. Performs general repairs as needed throughout the school district and support facilities\n \n2. Uses materials, equipment and all hand tools required to complete assigned duties proficiently and safely.\n \n3. May work with other crafts to complete repairs needed in regards to general renovations.\n \nMAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n \n4. Works with construction materials as needed for general repairs.\n \n5. Keeps daily records of materials used and fills out work orders assigned for the day; detects and reports repair and maintenance problems to supervisor.\n \n6.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.\n \nEDUCATION\n \nHigh School Diploma or GED\n \nWORK EXPERIENCE\n \n1 to 3 years\n \nSKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION\n \nHand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver), Power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pheunomatic hammer), Vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift)\n \nLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES\n \nNo supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.\n \nWORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n \nWork and tasks are often straightforward, routine, structured and guided by established policies and procedures. Little, if any, independent judgment is required, outside of making basic choices in the selection and application of established methods. The job receives frequent, ongoing supervision.\n \nBUDGET AUTHORITY\n \nNo budget development activity is required.\n \nPROBLEM SOLVING\n \nDecisions are made on routine matters affecting few individuals and usually within the confines of the job's own department. Specific job activities and results are typically reviewed closely. There are limited requirements for developing new ideas or changes in methods, procedures or services.\n \nIMPACT OF DECISIONS\n \nFollows rules and procedures. Decisions can have minimal or no impact to HISD. Errors can be readily detected, usually by the employee, and, if made, would result in minor expense for correction.\n \nCOMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n \nBasic communication - very little communication required such as receiving basic instructions. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and co-workers in own department.\n \nCUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n \nFollows through with customer inquiries, requests and complaints.
