JOB SUMMARY
Performs skilled maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and other physical structures. Paints structures, performs masonry work, and repairs plumbing fixtures and woodwork.
Maintains and cares for facility equipment, building, and grounds. Maintains facility, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Maintenance/Facilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
High School graduate or equivalent required with some vocational or trade school courses preferred.
Must be able to follow simple written and oral directions.
Work Experience
One (1) year experience in building trade or maintenance mechanic required.
Must be familiar with routine electrical and plumbing repairs and with the operation of power tools. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagrammatic form. Demonstrated competency and ability to successfully complete proficiency tests in mathematics, reading, writing, and communication
License/Certification
Skilled maintenance mechanic certification or license preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participates in Performance Improvement activities in support of the facility-wide program, including identification of Opportunities for Improvement.
Makes repairs to tools and equipment.
Repairs, maintains and installs electrical systems and fixtures.
Measures, cuts, bonds, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
Uses hand and power tools. Maintains and repairs tools and equipment.
Maintains and repairs piping, fixtures, and equipment for mechanical systems.
Interprets drawing and blueprints.
Performs general maintenance, using appropriate tools and methods
Performs predictive and preventive maintenance.
Maintains a clean work environment and reports housekeeping or safety problems appropriately
Checks and logs all equipment Psi and temps.
Makes sure all doors and windows are locked and secured at designated hours.
Responds to Code situations: Responds to Code Blue for crowd control.
Performs routine electrical repairs, replaces light bulbs, and clean fixtures as needed.
Performs minor plumbing duties such as unstopping sinks and commodes.
Practices safety procedures and properly wears correct safety attire.
Adheres to facility and departmental policies and procedures as presented in the employee handbook and other related manuals and materials.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required
A may assist higher-level skilled mechanics and specialized maintenance workers such as HVAC, Plumber, Electrician.
Initiates duties outside of assignment, if appropriate, without neglect of assigned duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Inside and outside environment. Exposure to changes in temperatures.
Exposure to fumes and mechanical hazards.
Must be able to operate equipment routinely used in maintenance operations.
Job requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling and reaching.
Job requires the ability to lift and carry materials up to 150 lbs.

Must be able to see with corrective eye wear
Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
Able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations
May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary
Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests including random and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
