Job overview

As a Maintenance Staff, you assist skilled carpenters in constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures, fixtures, and facilities. This role supports daily carpentry operations by preparing materials, handling tools, maintaining work areas, and performing basic carpentry tasks under supervision.

The Maintenance Staff plays an important role in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to quality standards. The position requires physical stamina, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow instructions while working as part of a maintenance or construction team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist carpenters with measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing wood and other materials
• Prepare job sites by setting up tools, ladders, scaffolding, and safety equipment
• Carry, load, and unload materials such as lumber, hardware, and tools
• Perform basic carpentry tasks such as sanding, drilling, nailing, and fastening
• Help repair or replace doors, windows, cabinets, flooring, fences, and furniture
• Mix or prepare materials such as adhesives, fillers, and sealants as directed
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe tool handling
• Support maintenance projects and respond to work orders as assigned
• Assist with inspections and cleanup after completion of jobs

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or general maintenance is an asset
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
• Ability to follow directions and work under supervision
• Willingness to learn carpentry skills and techniques
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Physical ability to lift materials, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods

Safety & Work Environment

• Work performed in indoor and outdoor settings
• Exposure to dust, noise, hand tools, and construction materials
• May require working at heights, on ladders, scaffolding, or uneven surfaces
• Must comply with all company safety policies and regulations
