Job Title:         Maintenance Supervisor

 

Department:    Erlanger Plant

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:       

 

Performs functions directed towards successfully and efficiently meeting manufacturing goals for customer orders by maintaining the facility and equipment in good repair; and in working order so as to eliminate down time.

 

The Maintenance Department Supervisors are secondary backups to their respective direct report regarding Food Safety and Quality.  Respective Department Supervisors are secondary backups in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.

 

 

REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Works to support and supervise maintenance activities on assigned shift,

 

2.         Leads troubleshooting and repair maintenance activities.  

 

3.         Responsible for maintenance program activities and documentation during shift (to include preventative maintenance documentation.

 

4.         Leads all equipment and building maintenance processing and building infrastructure during assigned shift.

 

5.         Assist with ordering of parts, supplies and services. 

 

6.         Ensures that GMP and Sanitation requirements are met on a daily basis; and addresses issues with the hourly employees.

 

7.         Helps maintain safe work environment and watches employees and the maintenance environment for potential safety hazards and safety improvements.

 

8.         Assists maintenance employees with regular duties when needed or when short employees due to illness, etc.

 

9.         Performs Pre-Op audits when necessary (example:  equipment down for maintenance) alongside the quality control technician.

 

11.       Holds hourly employee – supervisor meetings on a weekly basis discussing a variety of department related issues.

 

12.       Performs special tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

  

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the above functions satisfactorily.  The required levels of knowledge, skill and ability are described in greater detail in the following sections.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Must have a high school diploma or GED in combination with 3-5 years of work experience in related field and successful completion of all on the job training.  An associate’s degree is recommended.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

Ability to give and receive thorough instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees.  Second language fluency, especially Spanish, is desired.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

 

Ability to add and subtract multiply and divide all units using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 

Ability to solve common problems in a number of concrete standard situations.  Ability to give and follow instructions. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Ability to comfortably operate manufacturing equipment and standard office equipment, including desktop computers.  Must be forklift certified and will operate a folklift occasionally.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.  While performing the day to day tasks of this job the employee may sit or stand for long periods of time while using hands and arms to handle and operate objects.  Occasionally the employee will need to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee will be regularly required to talk and listen to others.  There is occasional lifting involved with objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  

 

The job is performed in a moderately noisy to loud environment with slight exposure to airborne particles with strong odors.  The employee will be in the presence of large operating machinery including forklifts.  The employee will be climbing ladders on a regular basis to reach high level platforms and possibly roof tops.
