Maintenance Supervisor with Gruma Corporation dba Mission Foods (Fife, WA)

Design and optimize mechanical systems, lead reliability and preventive maintenance initiatives, and provide technical oversight to maintenance technicians—safeguarding product quality, personnel safety, and regulatory compliance across multiple shifts. Modify and repair conveyors, ovens, coolers, mixers, and packaging machinery to increase throughput, reduce energy consumption, and meet USDA/FDA sanitary design standards. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical specifications for new installations and retrofits using CAD and FEA tools. Develop and own the plant’s preventive maintenance (PM) and condition-based monitoring programs—including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared thermography—to extend asset life and achieve ≥95 % planned labor utilization. Generate maintenance procedures, work instructions, and checklists; verify execution through regular

audits and KPI reviews. Lead failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause investigations for chronic downtime events; recommend design changes or process adjustments to eliminate recurring faults and achieve best in class MTBF. Track downtime data, create Pareto analyses, and present counter measures to plant leadership. Manage capital projects from scope development through start up: prepare cost estimates, write RFQs, evaluate vendor proposals, and coordinate contractors during equipment installation, commissioning, and validation. Ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with ASME, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards. Provide day to day engineering support to production supervisors and technicians, troubleshooting complex mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. Deliver ongoing skill building sessions on precision maintenance, lock out/tag out (LO/TO), and new technology rollouts; mentor technicians in reading schematics and interpreting engineering documentation. Conduct monthly safety training and engineering reviews to maintain zero lost time incidents; investigate any injuries within 24 hours and complete detailed engineering analyses within 48 hours. Champion food safety and GMP adherence by integrating hygienic design principles into all mechanical systems. Standardize maintenance workflows across shifts to drive consistency and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Establish and monitor KPIs—downtime per line, PM compliance, spare parts turns, energy intensity—and implement Kaizen and Six Sigma initiatives to surpass plant

targets.
