Maintenance Supervisor

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the work operations of the Facilities Maintenance Shop in the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Facilities Management Service at the Jackson VAMC.
  • Responsible for Employee training, development, implementation of preventive maintenance programs,
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, manuals, NFPA Codes, NEC Codes etc.
  • Determines when operational equipment is obsolete and/or uneconomical to repair and initiates appropriate document to management to have equipment removed from service.
  • Establish work priorities and deadlines for maintenance or projects based on general work schedules, methods, policies and the established goals of the service line and Medical Center.
  • Initiates electronic work orders for deficiencies found in the performance of duties.
  • Monitors progress and ensures subordinates have closed out assigned work orders.
  • Completes work orders in the time frames prescribed by Engineering Service policy.
  • Coordinates projects, equipment repair and service with other shop supervisors.
