Chemours is seeking a Maintenance Front Line Supervisor to join our growing Maintenance and Reliability team! This position will report directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager at our La Porte, TX location.
This position has single focused accountability for leading the site maintenance team in support of day-to-day plant operations and associated maintenance requirements. Continuously improve daily maintenance activities, processes and procedures. Works with Maintenance Planners and Coordinators to schedule and coordinate job plans to ensure high equipment reliability and safe plant operations. Supervise and prioritize shop floor mechanic team based on availability and site needs. Assist Maintenance Manager in managing Chemours and contract labor necessary for daily maintenance and shutdown schedule execution.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure an EHS&S focus by the maintenance team and contractors.
Execute the daily maintenance schedule in support of plant operations.
Utilize SAP (CMMS) for recurring predictive/preventive maintenance work, to track equipment maintenance history and to review and prioritize work orders.
Coordinate with Operations, plan and execute critical, unplanned maintenance work due to equipment failures.
Coordinate maintenance activities with Planning, Safety and Operations; ensure proper priority is communicated, understood and executed for all maintenance tasks.
Update maintenance metrics and formulate action plans for negative trend items.
Support Mechanical Integrity and "bad actor" investigation efforts.
Assist with the collection and storage of maintenance equipment records.
Ensure equipment is maintained in proper operating condition to preserve production and minimize downtime.
Work with Maintenance Manager to manage the site Maintenance and Repairs budget.
Provide maintenance perspective on capital projects as appropriate to ensure site maintenance considerations are included.
Participate in the identification of critical spare parts and appropriate maintenance stores inventory levels.
Implement and enforce good housekeeping practices within the maintenance department.
Responsible for training, maintaining and enforcement of safety and work rules among maintenance team.
Utilize Kronos and good scheduling practices to maintain available workforce on a weekly basis.
Conduct annual performance reviews for the Chemours maintenance team.
Other work as assigned by appropriate management.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Asset Care Policy including the establishment of policies and procedures, assigning responsibilities and tracking progress.
The following is required for this role:
Minimum of a high school diploma
A.S. Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic desired
Minimum of ten years of experience in the maintenance department of a chemical manufacturing plant or similar experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
Proven verbal and written communication skills.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of reliability studies and principles
Proven team player with good peer, subordinate, and superior relationship skills.
Investigate and recommend capital projects to improve plant reliability and reduce maintenance spending.
Demonstrated ability in root cause failure analysis.
Budgeting and accounting skills necessary to effectively manage project and maintenance costs.
Ability to make progress on multiple concurrent tasks.
Ability to balance short and long-term plant needs.
Due to the safety, sensitive nature of this job, the incumbent must take and pass regular and routine chemical dependency tests.
Proven "hands on" skills that include measuring and improving process performance and leading, instructing, and training others in those improvements.
Requires the physical ability to reach all work areas in the plant (i.e. climb ladders, negotiate catwalks, handle heights to 50 feet, etc.), to lift, twist and turn up to 50 lbs. (i.e. open and close large valves, inspect equipment, don emergency equipment, etc.) and to expeditiously lead plant emergencies.
The following is preferred for this role:
B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical or related Engineering field preferred
5+ years leadership experience
Demonstrated field experience in analyzing and determining needed corrective action in maintenance and project areas including leadership abilities.
Supervisory skills including motivational as well as disciplinary.
Successful record of new and maintenance repair project completion.
Proven ability to set and achieve goals, perform annual performance reviews, and hold team accountable.
Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft software.
Willingness to grow and adapt to new technologies.
Experience applying Lean methodologies to maintenance processes and supporting the implementation of business systems
