Position Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Classification: 12-month employee

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of facilities, grounds, and equipment at an assigned primary school campus. This position provides leadership for daily maintenance operations while ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate preventative maintenance programs, manage facility improvement projects, supervise maintenance personnel as assigned, and serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related needs at the campus. Occasional support and assistance may be required at other We Teach Truth school locations.

This position requires strong technical knowledge of building systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, trade school education, or certifications in facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, preferably in a commercial, educational, institutional, or industrial setting.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, building automation systems, pneumatic control systems, and steam boiler systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and building systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize work orders and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to occasionally travel to other school locations as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day maintenance operations at the assigned campus.
• Schedule, assign, and monitor maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building systems including HVAC equipment, pneumatic controls, steam boilers and associated systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and general facility equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Coordinate and oversee outside contractors and service providers.
• Assist with budgeting and planning for facility repairs, replacements, and capital improvement projects.
• Maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, and documentation.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency situations in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and organizational policies.
• Communicate regularly with school administration and the Director of Facilities regarding facility conditions and project status.
• Participate in long-range facility planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide on-call support for emergency maintenance issues as required.

Other Job Functions

• Snow removal and ice management.
• Grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, landscaping, and seasonal clean-up.
• Athletic field preparation and maintenance.
• School event setup and teardown.
• Preventative maintenance of campus equipment and machinery.
• Assist with facility projects at other We Teach Truth locations as needed.
• Support summer maintenance and renovation projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and access mechanical spaces.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and vehicles.
• Ability to occasionally lift, move, or assist with heavier items using proper lifting techniques, mechanical aids, or team lifting procedures.

Pay: From $32.00 per hour
