SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor is a critical position within the Manufacturing Team. Their primary responsibility is to supervise maintenance operations as well as mechanics and technicians. They provide planning for repairs of equipment and facilities and planning for projects related to equipment and facilities. It is the Maintenance Supervisor's duty to specify materials required to maintain equipment and facilities and procure materials as approved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides supervision and confirms time records for all maintenance associates allowing payroll to be accurate.
  • Develops and Maintains Preventative Maintenance procedures on equipment to allow for maximum uptime.
  • Provides planning for procurement of required materials and equipment for the facility.
  • Provides planning for execution of special plans for projects related to equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Supports capital expenditure analysis on equipment, evaluates cost to maintain vs cost to replace.
  • Maintains responsibility for keeping all equipment running.
  • Leads project planning for department, both internally and externally with associates and contractors.
  • Cultivates and promotes a strong safety culture and follows all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identifies and communicates workplace hazards and corrects or seeks assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Consults new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures.
  • Assists in the development, communication, and deployment of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the execution of the Operations Annual Operating Plan (AOP) goals and objectives.
  • Leads and drives continuous improvement initiatives to improve working conditions as well as departmental safety performance.
  • Maintains a high level of housekeeping standards and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Facilitates training, coaching, and employee performance reviews, including cross training within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures to maintain effective employee relations.
  • Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven ability to multitask with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to manage facilities department profit n loss (PnL) in line with budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Problem prevention and problem-solving skills required. Must be solution oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leadership, and labor union representatives.
  • Ability to recommend equipment and building repairs and upgrades.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Vocational and/or college training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the repair of sheet metal equipment and supervision of workers.
  • Experience with PC and related software is required.
  • A mechanical aptitude with strong problem solving and communication skills are a must. All are needed to work with associates, supervisors, superintendent, managers, and staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER:

  • Work Hours/Status: Mainly 2nd shift hours with some overlap to 1st shift for continuity.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional overnight travel is required.
  • Environment: Frequent exposure (34%-66%) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Physical Requirements statement(s): Sitting/Standing, free to move around. Repetitive manual movements.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, trends, new technologies and best practices in areas of responsibilities.
