Position Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees and assists with all maintenance operations to ensure equipment, facilities, and infrastructure remains safe, reliable, and compliant. This role helps manages maintenance personnel, schedules preventative maintenance, coordinates repairs, and implements systems to minimize downtime and support efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Supervise maintenance technicians, contractors, and vendors.
- Assist in assigning daily tasks, setting priorities, and ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for maintenance staff.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
Maintenance Operations
- Oversee repair, troubleshooting, and upkeep of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and facility systems.
- Maintain accurate equipment logs, service records, and documentation.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Assist in development, scheduling, and executing preventative maintenance (PM) plans.
- Implement predictive maintenance strategies to reduce failures and extend equipment life.
- Track maintenance KPIs (downtime, work order completion rates, PM compliance).
Planning & Budgeting
- Assist with maintenance budgets, including labor, parts, and capital projects.
- Source and procure maintenance materials, equipment, and service contracts.
- Assist in planning equipment upgrades, replacements, and facility improvements.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA, environmental, and corporate safety standards.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and hazard assessments.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping for regulatory audits and inspections.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of maintenance or facility management experience (industrial or manufacturing preferred).
- Strong mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems & large air compressor knowledge.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Technical or engineering degree/certification (e.g., Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering).
- Experience with reliability-centered maintenance, root-cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting or compliance (a plus for industrial operations).
Working Conditions
- Primarily on-site role with active involvement in plant or facility areas.
- May require on-call availability for emergencies.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and working around industrial equipment in hot and cold environments.
