Job Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance operations during an assigned shift within Papa Johns' Quality Control Center (QCC). This role drives equipment reliability, preventive maintenance execution, technician development, and operational support to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production.
The Maintenance Supervisor provides direct leadership to maintenance technicians and serves as a key partner to Production, Quality, Safety, and Sanitation teams. This position is responsible for improving equipment performance, reducing downtime, driving preventive and predictive maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and workplace safety standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on maintenance leader with experience in food, beverage, bakery, dairy, consumer packaged goods, or high-volume manufacturing environments who can balance technical problem-solving with strong people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop maintenance technicians on assigned shifts while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Direct daily maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance work.
- Ensure rapid response to equipment failures and coordinate effective troubleshooting efforts to minimize production downtime.
- Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Sanitation, Safety, and Supply Chain teams to maximize equipment reliability and production performance.
- Monitor and drive key maintenance performance indicators, including PM compliance, downtime, work order completion, and equipment reliability metrics.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for recurring equipment and operational issues.
- Assist with maintenance planning, scheduling, shutdown activities, and major equipment repairs.
- Ensure accurate documentation and completion of work orders within the CMMS system.
- Maintain maintenance inventory, spare parts availability, and department organization.
- Support installation, startup, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and facility improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA, GMP, food safety, environmental, and company safety requirements.
- Train, coach, and develop technicians to improve technical capabilities and build a strong internal talent pipeline.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, improving reliability, increasing efficiency, and controlling maintenance costs.
- Assist in supporting utilities and facility systems as required, including refrigeration, compressed air, boilers, wastewater, electrical distribution, and building systems.
- Serve as on-call maintenance leadership support as needed.
Education, Experience & Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree, technical certification, journeyman license, military technical training, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of maintenance leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
- Food, beverage, bakery, dairy, consumer packaged goods, or high-speed manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning processes.
- Demonstrated experience leading preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, and control systems.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis activities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration, utilities, or facility support systems.
- Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or Reliability Maintenance experience.
- PLC troubleshooting and automation experience.
- Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installations, and startup activities.

- Adapts quickly to changing priorities and performs effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Develops technical capability within the maintenance team through training, mentoring, and skills development.
- Maintains a strong commitment to food safety, workplace safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
