The City of Greensboro is seeking a Maintenance Technician-HVAC to join the Engineering and Inspections Department, Building Maintenance Division.

About the Role

The Maintenance Technician-HVAC is an entry-level position that assists and works under the supervision of an HVAC Maintenance Mechanic and/or supervisor.

Youll assist with the installation, construction, troubleshooting, repair, renovation, and maintenance of HVAC equipment in City facilities.

What Youll Do

  • Assist with installation and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing HVAC system issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs under supervision.
  • Assist with HVAC renovations and construction projects.
  • Use HVAC hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Work with HVAC mechanical equipment and related building systems.
  • Identify and report equipment problems and maintenance needs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and related technical information.
  • Complete work orders using a computer or electronic device.
  • Follow applicable local and state building codes and industry standards.
  • Follow OSHA policies, procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Assist with building maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with other skilled trades and maintenance personnel.

The physical requirements include:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of HVAC experience, such as: Installation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and repair experience.
  • "OR" No High School Diploma/GED with 5-7 years of HVAC experience, such as: Installation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and repair experience.
  • "OR" an Associates Degree with 1 year of HVAC experience, such as: Installation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and repair experience.
  • Valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications
