Maintenance Technical Lead
Overview / Summary
The Maintenance Technical Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, implementing, and reviewing maintenance and repair activities for automotive testing equipment, facility equipment, and buildings to support ongoing operations. This role oversees maintenance activities, leads a multi-trade maintenance team, ensures compliance with applicable regulations, and supports preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, prioritize, assign, supervise, implement, and review maintenance and repair activities for automotive testing equipment, facility equipment, and buildings.
- Oversee and direct the activities of a multi-trade maintenance crew to complete required tasks safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, corporate policies, and maintenance requirements.
- Develop maintenance strategies, programs, and improvements to existing policies.
- Troubleshoot automated testing system issues and determine corrective actions.
- Manage environmental health and safety conformance activities for skilled trades.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs for automotive testing equipment and facilities.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency and workforce availability.
- Maintain accurate hourly timekeeping records, vacation records, and time-off requests.
- Serve as a point of contact for janitorial service contracts.
- Perform environmental inspections and coordinate waste pickups.
- Procure parts, materials, and rentals required to complete maintenance tasks.
- Track performance metrics such as preventative maintenance completion and overtime.
- Maintain strong supplier and customer relationships with internal customers and outside suppliers.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of materials and equipment.
- Coach, mentor, and develop skilled trade employees.
- Lead teams and support multiple maintenance projects simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management experience.
- Ability to work all shifts and overtime as required.
- Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels.
- Ability to build effective business relationships with leadership and customers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
- Goal-oriented self-starter with the ability to lead teams.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop skilled trade employees.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field.
- Experience with continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing.
- Experience leading maintenance teams in a union environment.
- Green Belt, Red X, or Six Sigma training.
- Experience with controls, robotics, drives, system-level communication systems, sealing systems, glass cell systems, conveyance systems, welding systems, paint processes, associated systems, and vision systems and sensors.
