Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining machine fluid levels and quality. This includes oils, coolants, and other industrial fluids used in CNC machining operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records of fluid usage and advising necessary maintenance based on trends, interacting with Purchasing, Process Engineering, and plant leadership to drive visibility of issues. Maintenance of the filtration system for grinding and drilling oil may also be required when primary assigned technician is absent.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check and maintain proper fluid levels in CNC machines and related equipment.
- Perform regular testing of washing and quench fluids for additive concentration levels, adding water or additive fluid as necessary to meet required specifications.
- Maintain accurate fluid usage records, maintenance logs, and tracking documentation to identify trends.
- Monitor and follow machine fluid maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance requirements.
- Identify leaks, contamination, or abnormal fluid conditions and report issues to maintenance or supervision, entering maintenance tickets as appropriate.
- Maintain clean and organized fluid storage and work areas.
- Assist with fluid changes, disposal, and handling procedures in accordance with company safety and environmental guidelines.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to use measuring devices, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.
- Self-starter – ability to work independently and follow established maintenance schedules.
- Basic computer and documentation skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Career or technical certificate in Industrial Maintenance or related field
- Basic understanding of CNC machinery and industrial lubrication systems
- 3-5 years experience in industrial maintenance or industrial fluid handling
- Journeyman Electrician or Plumbing license
- Experience and / or certifications in HVAC maintenance and repair or plumbing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, grip, and lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to work around industrial machinery, oils, and coolants in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed footwear.
