Description
The Maintenance Mechanic (Level 2, 2nd Shift) is responsible for executing preventive maintenance and repairs on plant equipment within a busy food processing facility in New Bedford. This role requires a higher level of mechanical independence and will work the 2nd shift as part of a growing maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute PMs of plant equipment and repairs around a busy production schedule
Work with contractors: electricians, refrigeration contractors, plumbers, etc.
Work with an evolving maintenance team and maintenance supervisor
Create work orders and maintain inventory for replacement parts
Perform general maintenance on OEM and custom fabricated equipment
Communicate with team members on plant issues and work to improve plant operations
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial mechanic environment
Bilingual English/Spanish; is a plus
Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical and electrical issues independently
Conveyor, grinder, and production equipment experience
Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus
Understanding of blueprints, drawings, and schematics
Basic computer and math skills
Reliable transportation to New Bedford
Ability to lift within OSHA guidelines
Work Environment:
Active food processing facility; cold/refrigerated environment with fish
