Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a qualified Maintenance Technician in Akron, Ohio, to join our team. If you have experience with mechanical or industrial maintenance, we want to hear from you!

This position supports a metal processing facility where you will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy machinery used in recycling and metal byproduct processing. You'll also handle some building and facilities maintenance tasks. This is a great opportunity to work with a company committed to safety and excellent craftsmanship.

Hours
7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday
Overtime available on Saturdays

Pay
$24.00+/hour, based on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on production equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and suggest improvements to maintenance schedules
  • Replace worn parts and fluids; test and adjust components for proper operation
  • Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records; identify critical spare parts
  • Execute assignments aligned with your skillset and report progress
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Communicate daily with maintenance leadership on machine conditions and issues
  • Regularly inspect motors, gearboxes, shafts, fluids, filters, and other equipment
  • Keep a clean and safe work area following 5S principles
  • Perform general building maintenance as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience repairing or maintaining mechanical equipment, or vocational/trade school training in related fields
  • Experience or knowledge of general mechanical systems
  • Very mechanically inclined with experience using various hand and power tools
  • Ability to work in dirty environments and wear a respirator when needed
  • Steel-toed shoes/boots required; other PPE provided
  • Strong commitment to safety and protocol adherence

Nice to Have Skills
  • Welding experience or knowledge
  • Own hand tools

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Vocational/trade school training or recent trade school graduate in maintenance or mechanical program
  • Previous experience as an automotive technician/mechanic

Other Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally wear a respirator
  • Must be willing to get dirty
  • On-site work required
