Purpose:
The Apprentice Maintenance Technician is an entry-level role designed to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a Maintenance Technician. This position assists internal and external maintenance personnel with basic tasks while learning to maintain systems, equipment, and facilities. Through hands-on training and mentorship, the apprentice will progressively build the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment independently.
Development Path:
This role is designed to advance into a Maintenance Technician position based on skill development, performance, and demonstrated competency in mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance.
Essential Duties:
- Attend required training programs to build maintenance skills.
- Work under supervision of experienced technician to develop job knowledge.
- Follow instructions in a professional and respectful manner.
- Use tools, equipment, utility and motor vehicles on surfaces and/or elevated heights safely while developing proficiency.
- Assist with preventive maintenance schedules and equipment inspections.
- Support troubleshooting and repair of facility systems and equipment.
- Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on warehouse, stores and delivery; grounds, and equipment. Up to and including welding, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Learn and gradually perform more advanced repair tasks.
- Communicate maintenance issues effectively.
- Assist with safety and equipment training as skills develop.
- Assist with janitorial associates.
- Travel to other locations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or trade schooling preferred but not required.
- Related experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Aptitude for understanding welding, repairing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbed equipment and warehouse structure.

Physical Demands & Other Requirements:
- Maintain a valid Drivers License
- Maintain acceptable MVR
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift 100+ lbs. repetitively in a warehouse environment.
