    South College Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Maintenance Campus to join our team.

    Responsibilities

    • Cleans classrooms, rest rooms, multipurpose rooms, libraries, offices, and related facilities.
    • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, vacuums, and shampoos carpets and floors.
    • Cleans walls, furniture, windows, woodwork, dry erase boards, trays, and light covers.
    • Empties, cleans, and lines trash receptacles.
    • Dusts furniture, windowsills, and shelves.
    • Responds to emergency cleanups such as spills and clogged drains.
    • Performs minor maintenance and repair to buildings, fixtures, and equipment; adjusts shades/blinds and desks; assembles furniture.
    • Checks and refills towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers.
    • Performs minor/touch-up painting; replaces lights.
    • Picks up papers and debris; cleans walkways and entrances.
    • Operates equipment such as vacuums, floor cleaning and polishing machines, scrubbers, and steam cleaners
    • Locks and unlocks doors, windows, and gates to ensure security of buildings and related areas; turns alarms on/off.
    • Sets up and arranges furniture and facilities for assemblies, lunch, meetings, and special events as assigned.
    • Inspects areas and grounds for vandalism, damage, and sanitary and safety hazards.
    • Reports hazards to appropriate authority.
    • Assists in performing a variety of general maintenance tasks under the direction of the Director of Maintenance including painting, light electrical work, carpentry, and plumbing as assigned.
    • Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment, and requisitions needed supplies far enough in advance so that they may be delivered on time not to hinder the performance of custodial duties.
    • Performs other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
    • Advanced verbal and written communication often in stressful situations involving students or co-workers
    • Fast-paced work environment requiring quick adaptation skills in a changing strategic and tactical workplace

    • Appropriate Knowledge and Skills for job responsibilities
    • Prior experience with building maintenance and oversight
