    Maintenance Technician | Taylor, MI | All Shifts | On-site | Non-Exempt
     
    The Oakwood Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to repair, troubleshoot, and maintain manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Candidates should have experience with industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, welding, and preventive maintenance. Experience troubleshooting stamping presses, PLC-controlled equipment, and manufacturing systems is highly preferred. We are seeking a skilled, hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, solving problems, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of industrial equipment while supporting continuous improvement efforts that directly impact production, quality, and safety.
     
    What You'll Do
    As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment and facility systems to maximize uptime and support operational excellence.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment and machinery.
    • Disassemble equipment and components to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic failures and accurately reassemble repaired systems.
    • Perform preventative maintenance activities according to company, government, and OEM requirements.
    • Install, test, and evaluate new production equipment.
    • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance team members to resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
    • Perform fabrication, welding, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs as needed.
    • Conduct equipment inspections and document machine condition and repair activities.
    • Maintain a clean, organized workspace while following 5S principles.
    • Adhere to all company safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.

    What We're Looking For
     
    Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Minimum one (1) year of experience repairing manufacturing equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Experience with basic electrical, welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical repairs.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple assignments.
    • Strong customer-service mindset and ability to work collaboratively with all departments.
    Preferred Experience
    Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:
    • Stamping press equipment
    • PLC-controlled machinery
    • Single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
    • Hydraulics and pneumatics
    • Lubrication systems
    • Industrial preventive maintenance programs
    • Manufacturing automation and production equipment troubleshooting
    Training & Certifications
    Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain company certifications, including:
    • Forklift (Hi-Lo)
    • Crane Operation
    • Aerial Lift
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Arc Flash & Electrical Safety
    • Hazard Communication (HAZ-COM)
    • Portable Power Tool Safety
    • Permit Required Confined Space Training
