Position: Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Position Purpose:
· The Maintenance Technician’s primary function is to provide maintenance and minor electrical repair to facility and equipment and assist Maintenance Manager with daily maintenance tasks, breakdowns, troubleshooting and diagnostics of machinery, under direct supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist Maintenance Supervisor to install, replace, and repair production machines and facility equipment.
· Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, and machinery under direct supervision.
· Perform basic machinist tasks.
· Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals and work orders to perform required service or maintenance.
· Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
· Use a variety of mechanical tools, meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
· Address grounds maintenance as needed including yard work and snow shoveling/removal.
· Follow and practice safety procedures and help keep employees safe.
· Other duties and responsibilities to be assigned as needed.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skillset Necessary:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· A minimum of two years’ general maintenance and electrical experience required.
· Welding and fabrication experience required.
· Technical training preferred as this position includes exposure to high-speed equipment.
· Highly motivated self-starter with ability to work independently required.
· Basic mathematical abilities required.
· Comprehensive knowledge of hand and power/pneumatic tools including measuring devices and multi-meters required.
· Ability to operate a forklift required.
· Able to be tactful and clear in both verbal and written communication required.
· Read, write, and be conversant in the English language required.
· Electrical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic backgrounds or knowledge is preferred.
· Experience with basic computer programs including Outlook desired.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
· The usual production environment involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing occasional sitting.
· Postures include mostly walking, standing, and lifting.
· Occasionally lifts or carries up to 50 pounds, and balances while working in a production environment.
· Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination.
· Verbal and auditory capacity, with or without assistance, enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
· Visual capacity could include one or more of the following depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision enabling operation of machinery.
· Ability to move from department and buildings to interact with others.
