SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks. Performs
electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance and other
duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties:
- Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect
malfunctions and needed repair, making notes and recommendations.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair
of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes,
ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and
specialty tools.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and
faucets, unclogging or drains, replacing drain hoses, etc.)
- Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
- Provides regulatory oversight of hazardous waste generators; conducts inspections to
ensure regulatory compliance in storage, treatment, handling, minimization,
transportation, disposal, and record keeping related to the generation of hazardous waste.
- Ensures all systems are regularly maintained (e.g. fire and security systems, elevator
inspections, etc.). Liaises with outside vendors, contractors, and inspectors to assure
these inspections and necessary repairs are done on a regular basis.
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space to
accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power, and
specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment to preserve wood and
metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using
various painting equipment and related tools.
- Orders parts and maintains required documents.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Two years’ working experience in facility maintenance
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Industrial Maintenance Degree/Certificate preferred

Certificates, licenses, registrations
Current valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel, as required.
