Job Description

This role focuses on performing both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on a wide range of industrial production equipment. You will handle preventive and reactive maintenance activities, support machine setup and changeovers, and ensure safe, reliable operation of machinery in a busy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on production machinery and equipment.
• Carry out both preventive and reactive maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Repair and maintain gearboxes, conveyors, mixers, chillers, proofers, ovens, and baggers.
• Work safely with electrical systems up to 480V, following appropriate procedures and standards.
• Rewire and swap out motors as needed to keep equipment running efficiently.
• Assist machine operators with setting up and changing over machinery for different production runs.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment and components.
• Apply approximately 60% mechanical and 40% electrical skills in day-to-day work.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and execute repairs.
• Collaborate with other technicians, machine operators, and laborers to resolve equipment problems and support production.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing production machinery.
• Proficiency working with hydraulic systems, including diagnosis, repair, and maintenance.
• Proficiency working with pneumatic equipment and controls.
• Experience working safely with electrical systems up to 480V.
• Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Solid troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks as part of equipment repair and maintenance.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime, including extended hours and Saturdays, as required by production demands.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in baking or bakery production environments.
• Experience working in food manufacturing or food processing facilities.
• PLC troubleshooting experience and basic understanding of control systems.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, busy manufacturing setting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams on the production floor.

Work Environment

The role is based on the manufacturing floor, working alongside other technicians, machine operators, and laborers in a clean, GMP-compliant facility. The environment is busy and fast paced, with active production lines and a strong focus on safety and equipment reliability.

This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $65520.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
