General Summary: Under the supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Director, performs a wide range of maintenance tasks necessary to ensure that the county's buildings, facilities and equipment operate safely and efficiently. Incumbents perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks including plumbing, electric, carpentry, painting and plastering. Performs seasonal tasks associated with the maintenance of outside building and grounds, such as lawn care and snow removal and assists in custodial maintenance. Essential Functions: - Meets regularly with the Director to establish work or project priorities. Follows plans and work schedules to efficiently complete assignments and responsibilities.
- Performs ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repair on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, and other building structures and fixtures.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Installs and tests new or replacement equipment.
- Installs, removes and/or repairs plumbing related fixtures.
- Performs service work on equipment and makes minor repairs and adjustments.
- Performs preventative maintenance of pumps and air handling units.
- Performs grounds maintenance tasks. Mows grass and removes snow.
- Performs emergency and routine custodial maintenance services as needed and directed. Moves equipment and furniture.
- Performs routine vehicle maintenance.
- Delivers supplies to various buildings and departments.
- Performs other duties as required.
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the above tasks. (These examples do not include all of the tasks which the employees may be expected to perform.) Employment Qualifications: Education: - A high school diploma supplemented by vocational training in building trades.
Experience: - One to two years of experience in maintaining buildings, grounds and related equipment or building trades.
Other Requirements: - Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Limited proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Must be able to pass LEIN Certification Level 1 & 2.
