SUMMARY OF THE ROLE The Maintenance Technician Controls supports the safe reliable and efficient operation of the LNG facility by assisting with troubleshooting maintaining and repairing instrumentation and control systems. This role is designed for recent graduates who have completed coursework or training in instrumentation electrical automation or controls technology. The technician will work closely with experienced I&C technicians engineers and operations personnel to develop technical proficiency in LNG plant equipment and systems. Safety and quality are top priorities supporting the reliable and sustainable operation of the asset. This position is located in Brownsville TX.
Key Responsibilities • Assist in the inspection calibration troubleshooting and repair of control system components including transmitters analyzers valves actuators PLCs DCS components and related field instruments. • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities in accordance with facility procedures and OEM requirements. • Perform loop checks functional testing and documentation during system commissioning and maintenance tasks. • Respond to equipment or system issues and support troubleshooting to restore safe and reliable operation. • Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance work calibrations equipment history and spare parts usage. • Follow all safety environmental and regulatory requirements associated with LNG operations. • Participate in safety meetings job safety analyses JSAs and permit-to-work processes. • Ensure work is completed in compliance with OSHA NFPA and applicable LNG facility standards. • Participate in structured on the job training to gain proficiency in LNG process equipment and control systems. • Work with senior technicians and engineers to learn advanced troubleshooting methods and site-specific technologies.
Minimum Requirements • Recent graduate within 0-2 years from an accredited program in: • Instrumentation Technology • Electrical or Electronics Technology • Automation Control Systems • Mechatronics or related technical field • Fundamental understanding of electrical and instrumentation principles. • Basic skills in reading P&IDs loop drawings wiring diagrams and control system schematics. • Strong commitment to working safely in an industrial environment. • Ability to work rotating schedules including nights weekends and on‑call assignments if required. • Computer literate in word processing spreadsheet and database applications. • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. • Must have a hands-on" method of working. • Ability to get Transportation Worker Identification Credentials TWIC.
Preferred Requirements • Internship co op or practicum experience in industrial controls oil & gas LNG petrochemical or power generation environments. • Familiarity with PLC DCS systems e.g. Emerson DeltaV Allen-Bradley Siemens. • Basic understanding of cryogenic or LNG processes. • Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP or Maximo.
Job Site Work Environment • Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions. • Operates in a complex construction environment. • Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions. • Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot cold wet humid or windy weather conditions. • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits. • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction. • Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers phones photocopiers wscanner and fax and radios.
