Job Description

This role is responsible for the upkeep and reliable operation of a facility and its production equipment. The maintenance technician works across mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical systems to inspect buildings, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, maintain inventory, and coordinate repairs that keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform break-fix and preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment to sustain and improve operations.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments to optimize performance and prevent downtime.
  • Repair or replace defective parts and recondition or repair machine tools as needed.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and perform timely repairs on facility equipment as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs using blueprints, technical manuals, and vendor specifications.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the Maintenance Repair Area and any other area where repair work is in progress.
  • Identify and request needed parts, supplies, and repair items to support ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Provide support and backup for other members of the maintenance department as directed by leadership.
  • React to machine breakdowns with a strong sense of urgency to minimize production interruptions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
  • Set up and operate simple machining operations, including but not limited to lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to fabricate or repair parts as required.
  • Perform basic welding tasks when needed to support repair and maintenance work.
  • Install new equipment and move existing equipment for production use as required.
  • Complete technical self-study programs to support ongoing career development and skill enhancement.
  • Follow all safety-related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain situational awareness and proactively identify unsafe behaviors and conditions, taking appropriate action to correct or report them.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a facility, production, or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical repair.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical failures and perform effective repairs on facility and production equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance using blueprints, technical manuals, or vendor specifications.
  • Skill in operating basic metalworking tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and similar equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic welding tasks to support maintenance and repair work.
  • Capability to identify required parts, supplies, and repair items and communicate needs clearly.
  • Strong sense of urgency when responding to machine breakdowns and production issues.
  • Commitment to safety, including adherence to safety policies and recognition of unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a maintenance team and support colleagues as needed.
  • Willingness to engage in self-directed technical learning and continuous skill development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in environments with production teams and industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices in a maintenance or manufacturing setting.
  • Comfort working with basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems in a facility setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly maintenance area.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to support production demands.

Work Environment

You will work on-site in a production environment as part of a maintenance team supporting a production group of approximately 20 people. The setting is industrial, hot, loud, and can be dirty due to the nature of the equipment and processes. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the safety attire. Typical hours are on first shift, generally starting at either 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m., with the end time varying based on the day and time of year, and workloads may support more than 50 hours per week. The role involves frequent interaction with production personnel and regular use of mechanical and metalworking tools in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
