Location: Elgin, IL | On-Site

Chemtech Plastics in Elgin, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician will support the Maintenance department by maintaining and repairing all equipment involved in an injection molding environment. Responsible for general building maintenance in which these activities exist.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Insure the upkeep of the injection molding facility.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs on all molding and support equipment.
  • Keep and update accurate maintenance records on all equipment and facility.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested or directed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with all departments and machine manufactures services technicians.
  • Ensure a smooth running, well maintained facility.
  • Minimize downtime due to machine or equipment failure.
  • Provides clear and accurate records of maintenance activities performed.
  • Communicates problems/issues in the manufacturing facility to the Director of Maintenance.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to communicate with outside contacts in the process of pick up and delivery.
  • Must be able to communicate with all employees.
  • Accountable for the general upkeep of the facilities on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to speak and read English.
  • Valid drivers license and good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to work with a minimal amount of supervision
Education and Experience:
  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in hydraulics, electronics, and pneumatics.
  • Must posses a basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
  • Must understand all support equipment associated with injection molding.  (Thermolators, Spru Pickers, robots, Grinders, etc.)
  • Maintain all P/M records as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Must be capable of general fabrication such as welding and brazing.
  • Must be capable in general plumbing using PVC and/or galvanized pipe.
  • Must be capable in general electrical wiring, conduit bending and fabrication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Production plant that is moderately loud; ear protection encouraged, but not required.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
