Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Alsip, IL
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift | 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (Up to 5 hours of OT per week)
Compensation: $25.00 - $28.00/hour
Bonus/ Incentives/ Stock Options: Overtime available

Must have Skill Set:
- 1+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- OR recent graduate of an Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Apprenticeship program
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Strong desire to learn and grow within industrial maintenance
- Experience in manufacturing only (no facilities, commercial, or residential maintenance backgrounds)
Overview:
Sterling Engineering is partnering with a well-established food manufacturer in Alsip, IL to hire a Maintenance Technician for their 2nd shift team. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone early in their maintenance career who is eager to learn from experienced technicians and build a long-term career in manufacturing. Recent graduates from industrial maintenance or mechatronics programs are encouraged to apply. The plant manufactures well-known products including Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, Starbucks bakery products, and breads supplied to McDonald's.
Job Duties:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on bakery production equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Support equipment repairs, adjustments, and changeovers to maximize production uptime.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks and accurately document work performed.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, food safety, and plant safety standards.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure efficient equipment operation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment OR completion of an Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Apprenticeship program.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent attendance, teamwork, and communication skills.
