Responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician:
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform all tasks assigned in the most professional, efficient, and cost effective manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist other maintenance staff as assigned.
  • Primarily work day shift, but work evening ,night, or weekend shift as necessary and assigned
    • Respond to emergency situations relating to equipment and buildings.
    • Respond to emergency calls for coverage.
  • Document all work performed.
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area
  • Assist in maintaining the maintenance records and logs as assigned.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for preventive and routine maintenance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
  • Demonstrate the proper use and care of hand and power tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and buildings as assigned.
  • Perform manual duties as assigned (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).
    • Perform snow removal as needed.
  • Maintain building entry and exit areas in a clean and neat manner.
  • Prepare walls and surfaces for finish coatings.
  • Apply paint, clear coatings and other materials to surfaces.
  • In compliance with the Southwestern Privacy Compliance Plan, persons working within this job description will not have independent access to the patient clinical record.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of trade fundamentals, building codes, standards and regulations 

  • Make delivery of supplies and /or equipment to all facilities
  • Pick up parts and supplies for the facilities from local vendors as needed and assigned. Stock supplies appropriately
  • Clean up grounds areas as assigned.
  • Mows, cut and trim lawn areas.
  • Remove weeds from landscape beds.
  • Places mulch in landscaped beds.
  • Perform janitorial duties as assigned ( i.e. carpet and furniture cleaning, stripping, waxing and buffing of floors, general housekeeping clean up duties)
  • Performs minor building structural repairs with minimal supervision
  • Perform minor and major maintenance repair tasks as assigned with minimal supervision
  • Perform minor and major plumbing repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Perform heating, ventilating and air conditioning repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Work with and monitor the work of outside contractors as assigned.
  • Conduct building and grounds inspections and surveys as assigned.

Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 21 years of age and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ten or more years previous experience in the maintenance field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of various trade fundamentals to follow instructions and deal with general repairs.
