    Job Description

    This position is 8 hours a day for 260 days per year.

    The District is specifically seeking candidates with experience in key and lock systems, locksmithing, and building alarm/security panels. Relevant hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and servicing these systems is highly desirable.

    JOB DESCRIPTION - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    Work independently to perform skilled maintenance as directed to District property by the supervisor or designee. May be required to install, construct, or build items for the District. When not performing general maintenance duties, the MT (Maintenance Technician) performs routine tasks working in a variety of trades, including but not limited to painting, plumbing, carpentry, electronic, HVAC and locksmithing.

    Reports to and evaluated by: Facilities Supervisor or Designee

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • May perform carpentry work, emergency and routine repairs or requested alterations to plumbing systems, electrical and electronic systems, metal work, building furnishings, and HVAC equipment.
    • Work effectively with a variety of people including staff, public, vendors, and contractors in a positive manner that contributes to problem solving and problem resolution.
    • Be responsible for ordering materials, dealing with vendors, and approving by receipt and/or installation.
    • Perform routine and preventive maintenance as directed.
    • May be required to work overtime, including nights and weekends.
    • Perform related work as assigned and/or required.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.

    Evidence of successful experience in troubleshooting and conducting general maintenance.

    Skills and resourcefulness in assessing and accomplishing tasks.

    Possess skills in prioritizing workload and get tasks completed in timely fashion.

    Be willing to be trained to perform duties as may be requested and/or required.

    Successful experience desired in carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, HVAC, and controls.

    Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills, and skills in working well with others.

    Must have above-average record of attendance, punctuality, and reliability at work.

    Possess a valid Washington State driver's license.

    Must be able to lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds (WAC-296.126.096).

    Must have neat and clean appearance upon arrival to work.
