The Gardens Assisted Living is seeking a dependable, skilled, and motivated Full-Time Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is 40 hours per week and requires flexibility to work weekends.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of building, grounds, and equipment maintenance duties to help ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and facility equipment.
- Remove trash and maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
- Replace light bulbs and perform routine inspections.
- Complete basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting projects.
- Repair and maintain floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpeting.
- Troubleshoot and repair door locks, hinges, cabinets, desks, and closets.
- Change filters on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units.
- Service and connect appliances, kitchen equipment, and emergency equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical malfunctions requiring specialized repair.
- Move furniture and equipment and assist with facility setup and breakdown for meetings and special events.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work order documentation.
- Activate and deactivate building security alarms and respond to alarm calls during and after regular business hours.
- Exercise sound judgment in determining when work requires a licensed or higher-skilled tradesperson.
- Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in healthcare, assisted living, commercial, or residential facilities preferred.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Flexibility to work weekends and respond to emergency maintenance needs when required.
