The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment used in a metal heat treating facility. This position ensures production equipment, furnaces, conveyors, and support systems operate safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on heat treating furnaces, quench systems, conveyors, overhead cranes, compressors, pumps, and production equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical systems, motors, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, relays, and control panels.
Troubleshoot mechanical failures involving bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, shafts, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic components.
Install, align, and maintain production machinery and equipment.
Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
Inspect and maintain combustion systems, burners, gas lines, and furnace components.
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and equipment manuals.
Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow all OSHA and company safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory.
Coordinate with production personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
Assist with equipment installations, plant improvements, and facility maintenance projects.
Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns during production.
