POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of the facilities and equipment on site. They will perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment in the manufacturing plant as well as company vehicles. Also, they will manage the landscape by mowing and other tasks to keep the facility in good condition. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS All employees are required to support Rosenbauer's Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. - Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment in the manufacturing plant as well as company vehicles.
- Manages the landscape by mowing and other tasks to keep the facility in good condition.
- Conducts inspections of production equipment and safety apparatus on a regular basis.
- Maintains the facility’s building infrastructure.
- Manage maintenance documentation and organization.
- Ability to pull machines apart, understand manuals and adjust as described.
- Ability to take verbal directions over the phone.
- Works with outside contractors to obtain quotes and shares quotes to supervisor for final approval.
- Schedules outside contractors and vendors as needed and requested by supervisor.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.
- Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.
Tools to be utilized: Hand tools, power tools, grinders, tape measure, welders, torches, and potentially other tools for special jobs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS Required Education: Preferred Education: Required Experience: - 2+ years of experience in a maintenance technician role in a manufacturing setting required.
- 5+ years of experience in a maintenance technician role in a manufacturing setting preferred.
Preferred Experience: - Knowledge of air lines, hydraulic, AC and DC electrical, and some mechanical experience.
Position Requirements: - Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
- Understand OSHA regulations.
- Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic tasks with a brake press, band saw, shear, welder, and plasma machine.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
- Ability to recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for everyone at the organization.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
- Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
- Ability to work professionally with vendors.
- Adhere to all company policies.
Language Skills: - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills: - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
Reasoning Ability: - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills: - Ability to perform simple tasks, such as typing a letter and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening and closing files, simple formulas.
- Prior experience with a computer terminal and/or PC.
- Ability to use a computer to document work completed, parts ordered and maintain a well-organized process for keeping machines and the building running.
- Ability to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes and/or troubleshoot.
- Operate proficiently using maintenance software.
Decision Making: - Responsibilities are guided by a set of guidelines that provide methods for problem solving.
- Decisions are made within these guidelines initially, and a supervisor is informed afterwards.
- Supervisor regularly reviews the activities to determine if the guidelines have been followed.
WORKING CONDITIONS This position is in a general shop and sometimes outside, and it has access to all welfare facilities. In some cases, the temperature can be warmer or colder depending on the season. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position will be exposed to the elements and will have to prepare themselves with the right equipment to ensure safety. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. Depending on the season, different protective apparel will be required. The use of knees, legs, back, shoulders, and arms can vary from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. This position requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to complete job tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
