Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on performing mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of production equipment within an industrial manufacturing plant. You will ensure equipment reliability, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help keep the facility running safely and efficiently across multiple shifts.


Responsibilities


+ Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install equipment in compliance with all plant policies, procedures, and safety standards.

+ Work with machinery and mechanical equipment including motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, conveyor systems, and production line equipment.

+ Perform daily electrical troubleshooting and repair to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations.

+ Perform daily mechanical troubleshooting and repair on production and support equipment.

+ Repair hydraulic components and systems as a core part of the role.

+ Carry out routine preventive maintenance (PMs) and ensure all tasks follow the established PM schedule.

+ Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, schematics, blueprints, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications to support accurate installations and repairs.

+ Use hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments to diagnose and resolve issues.

+ Perform basic PLC troubleshooting to support equipment controls and automation.

+ Diagnose and troubleshoot root causes of equipment failures in a professional and timely manner.

+ Work closely with equipment operators on process improvements and train them on routine preventive maintenance tasks.

+ Support engineering and continuous improvement projects, including equipment trials, modifications, and new installations.

+ Maintain good housekeeping in the maintenance department and ensure work areas are clean and orderly after completing jobs.

+ Track and complete work orders manually, ensuring accurate documentation of work performed.

+ Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures at all times.

+ Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.


Essential Skills


+ Mechanical skills with hands-on experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics, or strong electrical abilities with proven troubleshooting experience.

+ Experience in electrical troubleshooting and repair, including work with motors and 3-phase electrical systems.

+ Experience in mechanical troubleshooting and repair of industrial machinery and production equipment.

+ Proficiency in repairing hydraulic components and systems.

+ Ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.

+ Basic PLC troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment controls.

+ Experience using diagnostic tools such as megger meters, multimeters, amp probes, and infrared thermometers.

+ Hands-on experience with pneumatics and hydraulic systems in an industrial environment.

+ Ability to use hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments safely and effectively.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial manufacturing environment.

+ Familiarity with conveyor systems, press machines, cutting machines, forming machines, and production line equipment.

+ Exposure to welding, HVAC, and general maintenance repair tasks is beneficial.

+ Comfort working from operation manuals, manufacturer’s specifications, and technical documentation.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes of equipment issues.

+ Ability to collaborate with operators and engineering teams to support process improvements.

+ Strong organizational skills to manage manual work order tracking and documentation.

Work Environment


The role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility equipped with approximately 16 press machines, 2 cutting machines, and 2 forming machines. The plant is well lit and can become warm when multiple presses are running. Maintenance technicians work with a variety of industrial equipment, including motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and production line machinery, using diagnostic tools such as megger meters, multimeters, amp probes, and infrared thermometers. Multiple shifts are available, including 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), offering flexibility to align with different schedule preferences. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to plant policies and procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gainesville, GA.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
