Reports to: Director of Facilities

Qualifications:

  • Technical school education and/or experience working with building mechanical/life safety systems including heating, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, emergency systems and building hardware.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Mechanical knowledge and skills in order to troubleshoot and repair the various kinds of mechanical equipment found in a school setting.
  • General grounds maintenance knowledge.
  • Skill with a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • The physical ability to lift 55 lbs. and to work at heights.
  • The ability to communicate in a positive manner with all staff, students and visitors.
  • Such other qualifications as the Board of Education may deem necessary or desirable.

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge Desired:

  • To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable and clean environment in which to learn or work.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs the repair and maintenance work necessary on all building mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, other equipment and facilities. Completes the repair work in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
  • Troubleshoots and overhauls various building systems and equipment, makes repairs and installs parts as necessary, sets and calibrates controls and equipment and reviews system operations for proper performance after repairs.
  • Operates and maintains the computerized HVAC building automation systems and all fire alarm systems.
  • Analyze and treat boiler system water.
  • Maintain water-softening equipment.
  • Performs basic carpentry work, finish work and painting.
  • Report all problems of a serious mechanical nature, which may require the assistance of outside mechanical contractors or service agencies.
  • Assist as necessary with the preparation and take down of gymnasiums, athletic fields and the auditorium for games or performances.
  • Perform snow removal around the buildings.
  • Perform grounds maintenance such as mowing, trash pick-up and landscaping.
  • Move furniture, equipment and supplies within and between buildings.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, District Administrator and/or Board of Education.

Performance Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the School Board's policy on evaluation of support staff.

Term of Employment: Twelve month

Pay rate: $22.00-$24.00/based on experience
