Maintenance Technician

Location: Tampa, FL
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM–11:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support our Tampa, FL facility. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic equipment used throughout the plant.

The ideal candidate will be a strong hands-on troubleshooter who can independently diagnose equipment problems, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, read P&IDs and equipment drawings, and work safely in a production environment.

This is an important role in maintaining equipment reliability, production uptime, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, remove, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant equipment including pumps, agitators, chillers, compressors, piping, valves, pneumatic systems, motors, and electrical components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic equipment using appropriate tools and test equipment.
• Diagnose equipment issues through inspection, testing, and systematic troubleshooting.
• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and reactive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
• Work with electrical components including wiring, contactors, relays, motor starters, switches, and sensors.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and equipment documentation.
• Develop or update drawings of existing systems when needed for troubleshooting and equipment installation.
• Use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, precision measuring tools, and electronic test equipment.
• Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, system improvements, and process development.
• Investigate recurring equipment problems and support Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Utilize CMMS and accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment history.
• Help coordinate and direct contractors performing scheduled maintenance or facility work.
• Follow Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and all applicable safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work independently while communicating effectively with maintenance, operations, engineering, and other plant personnel.
• Prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced, time-sensitive production environment.
• Work overtime and weekends when required to support business and production needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with a trade or technical background, or equivalent relevant maintenance experience.
• Associate degree in a STEM-related field with maintenance experience is preferred.
• Strong industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated critical-thinking and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Knowledge of mechanical and piping systems.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical devices and industrial equipment.
• Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with sensors, instrumentation, relays, contactors, and motor starters.
• Experience with CMMS, preventive/predictive maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and Continuous Improvement preferred.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
• Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate or direct others are preferred.

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in hot, cold, dusty, indoor, and outdoor environments.
• May work around hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including chemicals or bio-substances.
• Must be willing to use required PPE, which may include respirators, FR clothing, chemical-resistant gloves, hard hats, safety eyewear, and face shields.
• Must be able to work safely around production and process equipment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidates will have a well-rounded industrial maintenance background with hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment, pumps, piping, valves, electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and instrumentation.

Candidates coming from chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, food manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, utilities, or other process-driven environments may be particularly well suited for this position.
