THIS POSTING IS FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT IN THE ROAD AND BRIDGE DIVISION
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Maintenance Technician I performs basic maintenance duties and manual work and provides support in the upkeep of facilities, infrastructure, or equipment across various county departments, such as Parks, Recreation & Facilities and Public Works. This entry-level position is designed to provide hands-on experience in routine maintenance tasks and training in the operation of equipment under the direction of more experienced technicians or supervisors.

The following are examples of tasks that may be expected depending on the assigned department. Responsibilities will vary based on the specific needs of each department and the scope of work involved:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Maintenance Technician roles require the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects frequently, carrying tools and equipment, and standing or walking for extended periods. Technicians must be capable of bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing as needed for maintenance tasks. The position may involve working in various positions, including crouching or kneeling, and requires manual dexterity for the use of tools and machinery. Employees must also be able to carry out repetitive tasks that involve physical exertion, such as operating hand tools or handling materials.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS: Maintenance Technicians work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor locations. This may involve exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, or rain when working outdoors. Technicians may encounter hazardous materials, including chemicals, oils, or cleaning agents, and must follow safety procedures to minimize risks. Work in facilities or on roads in traffic may expose individuals to noise, vibrations, and dust. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to mitigate these risks, and employees must adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.

Driving Position - Operating County vehicles and/or equipment is a primary function of this position.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING: This position requires a physical, drug testing, drivers license verification and level 1 background screening. Employment history back seven (7) years will also need to be verified. Ensure your employment history is accurate and current prior to submitting your application.
BOARD APPROVED HOLIDAYS (14 days per year)
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday before will be observed. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be observed. The County Administrator is authorized to change the observation schedule of holidays falling on weekends.
