Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking a qualified applicant for the Maintenance Technician I position in the Waste Management Division. This general maintenance position supports landfill and recycling operations by performing grounds maintenance at the Countys 400-acre landfill site using lawn mowers, tractors, rotary mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and vacuums.

Duties include, but are not limited to, lawn mowing, edging, trimming, fence-line maintenance, litter control, traffic control, recycling center, and citizen convenience area operations and cleanup. Off-season work will entail performing maintenance on landscape equipment, fence repair, erosion control (raking, shaping, seeding, mulching), snow removal, and site cleanup.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related work experience in basic grounds and/or building maintenance, depending on assigned area or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

Experience with small-engine maintenance and repair.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal and DMV record background checks. Valid drivers license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Ability to lift 60 lbs. is required.
