Overview

The Department of Natural Resources is actively seeking a qualified candidate for the Maintenance Technician I or the Maintenance Technician II position to contribute to the strength of our team. If youre ready to make a positive impact and join a dynamic group, we encourage you to apply!

This position is responsible for building, facility, grounds, and reservoir maintenance programs for assigned parks and open lands managed by Larimer County. This includes aspects of maintenance and repair of all buildings, facilities, grounds, campgrounds, cabins, visitor services buildings, boat docks, buoys, and other related facilities. This also includes all aspects of tree, shrub, and lawn care, weed control, and other related landscaping needs. Supervises seasonal workers engaged in grounds and facilities maintenance, landscaping, and construction projects. Also supervises volunteers. Work assigned to incumbents is typically reviewed during the work process and upon completion. This is the journey level in the Maintenance Technician class series. Positions in this class are assigned a full range of maintenance duties and are expected to carry out the more complex or technically advanced assignments with minimal supervision.

The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, some weekends may be required. Additionally, in the event of a local emergency or disaster declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be assigned to serve as Disaster Service Workers.

Responsibilities

What youll be doing:

  • Performing maintenance and repairs on vehicles, boats, boat docks, equipment, cabins, restrooms, water facilities, visitor services buildings, and other related facilities.
  • Making routine purchases required for daily operations.
  • Planning and scheduling work assignments for crews, ensuring equipment and supplies are available, including proper safety equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports related to maintenance and repairs.
  • Assisting in the fabrication and construction of park facilities, which may include boat docks, park shelters, picnic tables, park signs, fire grates, campsites, parking areas, small buildings, utility lines, and other similar projects.
  • Operating a variety of heavy and light equipment, including mowers, chainsaws, tractors, backhoes, boats, and trash compactors.
  • Providing information and directions to the public to enhance their experience in the park.
  • Performing other duties as necessary to support the effective operation of the park.

Maintenance I

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a valid Drivers License by date of hire required.

Maintenance II

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
  • Possession of a valid Drivers License by date of hire required.
