Job Description

The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a ­­­­­­­­Maintenance Technician I for a prominent client of ours.  This position is in Worcester, MA 01605. Details for the position are as follows:

Maintenance Technician I

Location: Worcester, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Duration: 12-month contract
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined individual to join an onsite maintenance team in Worcester, MA. This is a junior-level opportunity with hands-on training provided, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys working with tools, taking equipment apart, understanding how mechanical systems work, and learning new technical skills.

Previous pharmaceutical or industrial maintenance experience is not required. We are open to candidates who have developed mechanical skills through trade or technical school, automotive work, facilities or building maintenance, manufacturing, HVAC, military experience, mechanical projects, or hands-on hobbies such as working on cars, motorcycles, engines, or equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside experienced maintenance technicians to learn the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and facility systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and installation of mechanical equipment and components.
  • Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and basic equipment repairs.
  • Support maintenance of mechanical systems that may include pumps, motors, compressors, gearboxes, piping, HVAC components, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Follow detailed instructions, established procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Complete basic maintenance documentation and work orders.
  • Help identify equipment problems and learn appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or relevant technical/trade certificate.
  • Strong interest in mechanical work and learning how equipment operates.
  • Comfortable working with basic hand and power tools.
  • Some hands-on mechanical experience, whether gained professionally, through technical/trade school, or through personal mechanical projects.
  • Ability and willingness to take equipment apart, inspect components, troubleshoot problems, and assist with repairs.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and learn from senior technicians.
  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to work onsite in Worcester Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

Relevant Backgrounds

Candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including:

  • Automotive repair or automotive technology
  • Diesel, small-engine, motorcycle, or equipment repair
  • Trade or technical school programs
  • Facilities or building maintenance
  • Custodial or janitorial work with hands-on maintenance responsibilities
  • Manufacturing or production environments
  • Machine operation or mechanical assembly
  • HVAC or refrigeration
  • Construction or general mechanical work
  • Military mechanical/equipment maintenance
  • Personal experience repairing cars, engines, motorcycles, machinery, or other mechanical systems

Preferred, But Not Required

  • Preventive maintenance experience
  • Pumps, motors, compressors, or other mechanical equipment
  • Mechanical measuring tools such as calipers or micrometers
  • Industrial or manufacturing experience
  • Work-order or CMMS systems
  • GMP or pharmaceutical manufacturing exposure

This position is designed for someone who wants to develop their mechanical skills and learn from experienced technicians. Extensive industry experience is not necessary—we are looking for mechanical aptitude, hands-on ability, reliability, and a genuine willingness to learn.
