Position Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician II is responsible for supporting day-to-day maintenance operations and ensuring the reliability and functionality of plant equipment and facilities. This role works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Shift Supervisor on our afternoon shift to maintain the physical assets of the plant while supporting production efficiency. A strong mechanical and electrical aptitude-and willingness to learn-is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose equipment issues using tools such as volt-ohm meters (VOM) and oscilloscopes (training provided)
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime
  • Support and repair production machinery to meet operational demands
  • Assist in maintaining production efficiency and achieving daily output targets
  • Build and repair wooden crates as needed for operations
  • Maintain accurate records related to maintenance systems, equipment, and work performed
  • Collaborate with engineering on special projects and equipment improvements
  • Use independent judgment to resolve maintenance issues across a variety of operations
  • Ensure compliance with all plant safety requirements and procedures

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Welding experience required

Technical Skills

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
  • Working knowledge of AC, DC, and 3-phase electrical systems (up to 480V)
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs and input/output devices
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
  • Experience with basic plumbing installation and repair
  • Welding capability and fabrication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and coordination required for repairs and tool use
  • Must wear required PPE including hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing plant environment (automotive components)
  • Exposure to heat, cold, noise, and occasional fumes/chemicals
