    As a maintenance tech II with the SCAD physical resources team, you'll work to ensure that the university''s buildings throughout the city are kept in excellent shape and are ready for students, staff, faculty, and guests. To do so, you'll perform a variety of maintenance and repair work independently or assist other skilled trade personnel. This includes plumbing, light electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, flooring, drywall/painting, troubleshooting appliances and water heaters, equipment repair, and furniture assembly and repair.

    As a maintenance tech II, you'll:

    • Perform daily building walkthroughs and assess items that require mechanical, electrical, carpentry, or painting improvements
    • Coordinate with other areas of physical resources on repairs that require assistance
    • Complete assigned work order requests and document problems that need correction in the work order system
    • Meet schedules and timelines
    • Coordinate work of assigned staff to accomplish a wide variety of duties

    To support the department, you'll:

    • Operate a variety of equipment and machines effectively such as trucks, forklift, hand, and power tools
    • Advise your supervisor when emergencies exist or assistance is needed from other crafts
    • Follow all SCAD and OSHA safety policies and procedures
    • Always maintain a professional appearance

    You must be able to:

    • Work independently with little direction
    • Be on call to handle emergency situations

    Minimum qualifications:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), at least two years of experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related trade
    • Experience in at least one of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall/paint, HVAC
    • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

    Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

    • Valid driver''s license
    • Clean driving record
    • Ability to pass DOT medical exam

    Travel required:

    • 10-20%

    Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
