  1. Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  2. Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  3. Inspects drives, motors, and belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, or performs other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  4. Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  5. Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  6. Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  7. Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  8. Records type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
  9. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  10. Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  11. Applies sound judgment and discretion in decision-making and utilizes problem solving techniques to assist in identifying and resolving maintenance issues.  Communicates such problems to the maintenance supervisor effectively.
  12. Trained and competent in the handling of hazardous waste and all other legislative training requirements relevant to the position.
  13. Comprehends written and verbal instructions and translates them into actionable tasks in support of the production process
  14. Knowledgeable in most aspects of maintenance and processes within the maintenance department.  Ensures the written and verbal production schedule is followed.
  15. Uses time effectively, supports strong team performance by assisting others when needed.
  16. Promotes quality by maintaining discipline and compliance with procedures related to job specifications. Keeps work area clean and orderly.
  17. Proficient in welding and fabricating of tools or product.
  18. Participates in the Spill Response Team and assists in ensuring spill response measures are met with regard to company policy.
  19. All other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
