- Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Inspects drives, motors, and belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, or performs other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Records type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Applies sound judgment and discretion in decision-making and utilizes problem solving techniques to assist in identifying and resolving maintenance issues. Communicates such problems to the maintenance supervisor effectively.
- Trained and competent in the handling of hazardous waste and all other legislative training requirements relevant to the position.
- Comprehends written and verbal instructions and translates them into actionable tasks in support of the production process
- Knowledgeable in most aspects of maintenance and processes within the maintenance department. Ensures the written and verbal production schedule is followed.
- Uses time effectively, supports strong team performance by assisting others when needed.
- Promotes quality by maintaining discipline and compliance with procedures related to job specifications. Keeps work area clean and orderly.
- Proficient in welding and fabricating of tools or product.
- Participates in the Spill Response Team and assists in ensuring spill response measures are met with regard to company policy.
