Job Title: Maintenance Technician I Department: Engineering
Reports to: Engineering Manager FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt
Summary/Objectives
The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to
install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety,
predictive and production maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of
the sites business goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions

- Serve as the first point of contact for equipment breakdowns and respond promptly and professionally to time-sensitive maintenance needs.
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of production and facility equipment with accuracy, precision, and adherence to established procedures.
- Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment and fully document work performed.
- Conduct mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting with a focus on identifying root causes and preventing recurrence.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of control systems, including interpreting ladder logic and tracing I/O and sensors. Basic PLC troubleshooting (reading ladder logic, tracing I/O and sensors, minor edits a plus but not required)
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, and proactively learn new equipment to improve diagnostic capabilities.
- Diagnose issues, replace or repair parts, test functionality, and ensure proper adjustments with strong follow-through.
- Complete preventive maintenance activities within the CMMS, ensuring entries are thorough, accurate, and compliant with internal documentation standards.
- Assist in the analysis and improvement of CMMS workflows, including identifying patterns, repeated failures, and opportunities for system optimization.
- Perform facility maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as needed.
- Partner with and oversee external service vendors conducting repairs or maintenance work.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, electric meters, diagnostic equipment, and material-handling devices safely and effectively.
- Conduct proactive inspections of equipment during operation to identify potential safety hazards and emerging maintenance issues.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support audits and reviews related to maintenance documentation, safety compliance, and equipment performance.
- Communicate clearly with operators, engineering staff, and leadership regarding equipment status, risks, and recommended corrective actions.
- Maintain confidentiality of equipment, facility, and process information when appropriate.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times with disciplined attention to detail.
- Participate in or lead special projects, equipment upgrades, and installation activities as assigned.

- Equipment downtime is minimized through proactive troubleshooting and timely response to issues.
- Preventive maintenance tasks are completed accurately, consistently, and fully documented in the CMMS.
- Communication with operators, engineering, and leadership is proactive, clear, and solution-focused.
- Issues are anticipated when possible, not simply corrected after failure.
- Work areas, tools, and documentation are maintained with high standards of accuracy and organization.
- Vendor interactions and repair activities are executed professionally and aligned with company expectations.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated electrical, controls, and mechanical aptitude, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of industrial systems.
- Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC
- Proficiency in basic machining operations, including the safe and accurate use of machinist tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform welding tasks as required for equipment repair, fabrication, or maintenance support.
- Consistent ethical conduct, including adherence to safety standards, responsible equipment use, and integrity in documentation and communication.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with operators, peers, and leadership; basic computer proficiency required for CMMS use, documentation, and training systems.
- Results-driven mindset with a demonstrated sense of urgency when responding to equipment
- issues or operational needs.
- Self-motivated learner with the ability and willingness to understand new systems, technologies, and equipment as the operation evolves.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne
particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may
be loud.
Physical Demands

employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This
position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching,
crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must have ability to lift and/or move items over 50
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to
2:00 a.m. Schedule may adjust depending on business requirements and need for overtime.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number
of years of education and production maintenance experience.
4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and
industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.
