Job Description:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and/or facility infrastructure in a highly regulated, process-driven environment, always following the safety standards. Duties include performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and/or the building(s), including all their operating systems such as plumbing, HVAC and electrical wiring. Also, this person will be responsible for inspecting buildings to ensure safety standards are met, maintaining records of work performed, and always following the ITW Culture/Values/Policies and procedures of the Operations department. The ideal candidate will have hands-on maintenance experience and a strong understanding of working safely around hazardous materials, process equipment, and regulated systems. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Equipment

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to the machines and equipment used by the Production department, such as electrical motors, compressors, valves, wick winders and process equipment, mixers, tanks, scales, gas and liquid fillers, capers, labelers, inductions sealers, tube tapers, box tapers, pipe fittings, pneumatics and material handling systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and instrumentation systems to avoid downtime in the manufacturing process, always responding to maintenance requests and emergency repairs in a timely manner.
  • Assist senior mechanics, engineers, or maintenance leaders on complex or critical systems.

Facilities & Operating Systems

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to the building(s), including all their operating systems such as plumbing, HVAC electrical wiring, boilers, air compressors and water systems.
  • Assist with upkeep of piping systems, including chemical transfer lines and containment systems.
  • Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, and facility modifications.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company EH&S policies, including use of PPE, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and Hazardous Communication standards.
  • Operate all lifting and maneuvering equipment, including cranes, forklifts, pallet-jacks and drum lifters/tilters in accordance with handling procedures.
  • Work safely in environments with exposure to chemicals, fumes, high-pressure systems, and temperature extremes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, EHS, and Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and safety.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations and audit readiness.

Other

  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, structures, and safety systems.
  • Identify risks, leaks, wear, or failures and take corrective action.
  • Ensure hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and safe for use.
  • Document maintenance activities and support compliance records.
  • Follow the chain of command.
  • Hold self-accountable for productivity, quality, delivery, cost and safety, always driving ITW principles.
  • Other responsibilities as needed/directed by his/her supervisor.

Experience & Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification or trade training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum of (3) years of maintenance experience in a chemical, manufacturing, industrial, or processing environment.
  • Working knowledge of pumps, valves, piping, mechanical equipment, electrical systems and industrial wiring.
  • Welding, forklift operation, equipment rigging, and carpentry skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and process safety practices.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems for maintenance tracking preferred.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals preferred.
  • OSHA certifications (e.g., 10-hour or 30-hour), or safety training in LOTO, confined space, etc. preferred.
  • Ability to work with others in a team-based environment and follow instructions.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks and deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Positive attitude with good relationships involving superiors and coworkers.
  • Willingness to comply with applicable laws and regulations, ITW CCE Handbook and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Work typically carried out in a chemical manufacturing plant environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Work performed in a chemical manufacturing plant environment.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, noise, heat, and industrial equipment.
  • May require shift work, overtime, or on-call support for critical operations.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and stand for extended periods.
  • Personal protective equipment while inside Plant site process areas (Protective foot gear, eye protection, respirators, face shields, gloves, protective clothing, other site-specific equipment).

Compensation Information:

31-40 an hour
