Job purpose
The Level I maintenance technician is responsible for performing assigned preventive maintenance tasks and attending to all equipment calls in the production plant. This includes on-site repairs and/or repairs that require a work order. This position is responsible for complying with all employee safety requirements, food safety, facility audits, and GMP at all times.
Duties and responsibilities
Performs regular maintenance (PM) service/duties as scheduled by the Maintenance Manager
Maintains manufacturing assets and facilities as assigned (lubrication, monitoring, filter controls)
Supports ongoing staff training and development
Reporting of departures during the shift and at the end of the day, on the maintenance work performed
Follow all food safety guidelines and protocols while servicing equipment
Model the company's safety culture and always strive for 100% safety compliance.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule – other shifts, weekends, holidays as needed
Qualifications
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a maintenance technician position and activities
Must be able to read English and follow the instructions in the equipment manual
Must possess a solid understanding of manufacturing equipment (mechanical and electrical)
Previous experience in the Food Industry, a plus
OSHA 10-hour general industry outreach training, preferred (not required)

Excellent communication skills, and respectful of others
Organized, detail orientated, and a can-do, hands-on work ethic
Proficient computer skills with EXCEL, WORD; CAD a plus
Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes
Strong knowledge in Maintenance & Reliability
Self-motivated, results orientated, and excellent personal skills
Ability to perform Tech Level-I tasks
Knowledge in utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) a plus
Strong background in HACCP, Safety, GMPs, and regulatory Food Safety Audits
Working conditions
Must be able to work any and all shifts as directed.
Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including holidays and weekends.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures.
Physical requirements
Must wear non-slip, safety-resistant work shoes.
Participation in mandatory pre-shift stretches and exercises.
Proper use of required PPE, including hairnets, beard nets (if needed), and safety gloves.
Must wear all required PPE when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection.
Physical ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walk around the facility, lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, reach, kneel, crawl, and twist.
Must possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates and others using professional etiquette.
