Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery to ensure that it meets the companys production goals and requirements. This position requires an individual with a keen eye for detail and thorough knowledge of troubleshooting a variety of industrial equipment, as well as an understanding of how to properly manage dairy processes and equipment repairs. The Maintenance Technician must have a strong desire to work with mechanical components, have an aptitude for problem solving, be highly organized, and able to efficiently complete tasks with limited resources.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The Maintenance Technician maintains troubleshoots and repairs all production equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Knowledge and practice of industrial manufacturing Safe Work practices.
  • Perform daily inspection walks throughout the facility documenting critical process equipment indicators, pressure readings, temperature readings, and machine electrical load ampere readings.
  • Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment in a dairy processing facility.
  • Handle chemicals for support equipment operation.
  • Create and report repairs throughout shift. Complete required work order paperwork, document parts, and material usage.
  • Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules including lock out tag out, confined space, fall protection, safe lifting practices and safe machine operation and others.
  • Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
  • Fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs; product and process piping, steam lines, chemical lines, pneumatic lines, welding, cutting, drilling, etc.
  • Properly complete all documentation to meet all regulatory requirements and plant SOPs.
  • Bring value to the team and strengthen the team through your job performance, treatment of your team members, and effective communication.
  • Understand all performance criteria and operating results associated with your area of responsibility and constantly meet or exceed these requirements.
  • Maintain Plant areas of responsibility to ensure an inspection and tour ready facility at all times.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. "Food Safety and Quality" are the responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must have a working knowledge of and experience in plant maintenance and preventative maintenance operations.
  • Basic Knowledge of VFDs, photo eye, proximity sensors, gearbox reducers, and network communication.
  • Knowledge of centrifugal and positive pumps, seal replacements, impellers
  • Knowledge of Pneumatics, steam flow, boilers, condensate valves.
  • Knowledge of three phase circuits, loop power, vacuum pumps, scales, chart recorders, PLC, level sensors, and refrigeration.
  • Previous Electric motor repair, licenses HTST and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of boiler operating controls.
  • Knowledge of chemical testing and water quality for utilities
  • Must demonstrate good judgement when carrying out duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: 5 years, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, industrial automation, or other similar manufacturing-related specialization.
  • Minimum 2 years of troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic systems using schematics, drawings, MFG manuals, and performing testing on equipment.
  • Experience with lubrication of bearings and mechanical pivot points, along with diagnosing and operating equipment in accordance with Work Instructions.
  • Experience working with 120/240 VAC and 24 VDC control systems.

English is required as the written and spoken language.
