About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support our compaction/press operations. This role will provide maintenance across the plant—helping keep critical production equipment running safely and reliably.
What you'll do
Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Repair
· Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues on presses and related equipment (feeders, conveyors, vacuum systems, lubrication, guarding, etc.).
· Respond to line down / high priority issues, safely triaging and restoring operations while driving toward permanent fixes‑down / high‑priority issues, safely triaging and restoring operation while driving toward permanent fixes.
· Work with external vendors/technicians as needed for complex repairs, upgrades, or rebuilds
Preventative Maintenance & Reliability
· Execute and improve preventative maintenance (PM) routines for presses, dies, and auxiliary systems (cleaning, lubrication, inspections, adjustments, calibration checks).
· Help build and use PM checklists and maintenance logs; capture failure history and recurring issues.
· Recommend and implement improvements to increase uptime, extend tooling life, and reduce unplanned downtime (lubrication changes, component upgrades, spare parts strategy, etc.).
Cross Functional Maintenance Support
· When press/compaction demands are lower, serve as a senior maintenance technician on broader plant equipment (e.g., ovens, grinders, pumps, vacuum systems, basic utilities equipment, material handling).
· Assist with equipment installs, relocations, upgrades, and commissioning, including utilities tie-ins, and dry/wet runs.
· Partner with engineers and technicians to implement continuous improvement projects (safety, throughput, OEE, and ergonomics).
Press & Tooling Setup / Operations
· Set up and tear down press tooling and dies for production and development runs, following setup sheets and standard work.
· Perform tool and die changeovers efficiently and repeatably, including alignment, shimming, and verification of clearances.
· Inspect tooling and dies before and after runs; identify wear, damage, and potential failure modes and escalate or address as appropriate.
What We're Looking For:
Experience:
o 2+ years in a mechanical environment.
o Previous experience in hydraulics, welding, diesel, or auto mechanics.
Technical Skills:
o Hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders, pumps, seals, sensors, regulators).‑on troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders, pumps, seals, sensors, regulators).
o Comfortable using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, depth gauges) to verify tooling and part conditions.
Maintenance Competence:
o Demonstrated capability to learn new equipment and systems quickly (new press platforms, auxiliary systems, controls/HMIs with appropriate training).
o Proven experience performing preventative maintenance and basic repairs with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have:
· Industrial maintenance
· General electrical troubleshooting
· Background in tooling for press operations, such as:
o Metal stamping / progressive dies, or
o Injection molding tool changeovers and maintenance, or
o Powder metal compaction tooling installations
o Powder metallurgy
o Other high-pressure forming processes.
· Certification or apprenticeship in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Tool & Die, or related field.
· Prior experience in using CMM systems to validate tooling dimensions
